If you are planning to pay for something in cash in Spain, whether it is a service, a purchase, or a deal with another business, it is worth knowing that Spanish law puts a hard limit on how much cash you can legally use.
Law 7/2012, aimed at preventing and fighting tax fraud, set a limit on cash payments. Any transaction of 2,500 euros or more cannot legally be paid in cash.
This limit applies to transactions between:
- Companies and/or professionals
- Companies or professionals and individuals
